Cut your recipes in half or double or triple a recipe! (recipe calculator)
Sometimes we’re on a bit of a diet and don’t want to do a full recipe. Sometimes we find a recipe but it’s not big enough for the party we’re planning. These are just two examples how you can use this free online food calculator!
Above are screen shots of a recipe from Martha Stewart for Pound cake, but it’s a recipe that makes 2 pound cakes and I just needed one. So I took the recipe and added the ingredient list to the calculator and it calculated exactly what I needed to make just one pound cake.
—The yellow screen shot is where you insert the original recipe
—The orange screen shot is the results (the recipe cut in half)
—However the directions are a cut and paste from the original recipe that calls for two loaves but you can still use the directions for your one loaf.
— Make sure you pay attention to questions 1-6 ( I suggest highlighting on question 4 because then you’ll be able to see if you made a mistake with the original calculations) and don’t forget to highlight what you need in question 2)
- Here is the original pound cake recipe I used for this tutorial (great recipe btw)
